Conceptual Work
The concept for the design was a city skyline, which turned into a whole city, and the main elements drawn from it were:
-
Vertical Connection
-
Negative vs positive space
-
Smaller spaces opening into larger spaces
-
Asymmetry
-
Inconsistency and the unexpected
-
Geometric and jagged lines
-
Imitation of city skyline

Detail Work
Detail work involves custom elements made in Revit families that were big features of the project.
Grand Stair (Floors 2-5)
Some features of this custom stair include:
-
Landings for seating
-
Lights that trail up under the stairs for more light
-
Panels along stairs that mimic city skyline as one ascends
-
Panels made of mirror material to create visual interest and open space up
-
Area for reading and working at base of stair with lights in the above landing
-
Complex, geometric configuration throughout

Public Restaurant
The public restaurant, called "Phone Eats First" draws from the city concept in a rather unique way. With it's theme being an "Instagrammable" cafe, there are different sections separate from the main eating areas inspired by different aspects of New York. For instance, in the perspectives shown below, the neon lights booth is inspired by the night life of New York, the greenery booth is inspired by the parks of New York, and the "head in the clouds" booth is inspired by the tall buildings and skyscrapers of New York.
